Daredevil, Seasons 1–3 (2015–2018) Matt Murdock, blinded as a child by a chemical spill that hyper-enhanced his remaining senses, is a Catholic defence lawyer by day and a vigilante by night. His firm partner is Foggy Nelson; their secretary-turned-investigator is Karen Page.
The Hand — an ancient cult of ninjas, central to Daredevil Seasons 2–3 and The Defenders. Five immortals extending their lives through a resurrection process requiring human sacrifice; they resurrect Elektra as their weapon, "the Black Sky."
The Defenders (series, 2017) is where Jessica Jones first meets Matt Murdock — she, Matt, Luke Cage, and Danny Rand team up against the Hand, and she is memorably unimpressed by all three of them. She returns as Matt's ally in Born Again Season 2.
Why these matter now: Daredevil: Born Again is a direct continuation, its second season crosses over with Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock is confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday.
The crime boss behind everything is Wilson Fisk / Kingpin — the Netflix Daredevil villain, formally imported into the film universe. Maya shoots him; he survives.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (SERIES, 2022) — Jennifer Walters, Bruce's cousin, gets his blood in an open wound and gains his powers without the rage — which she notes is because women are already practised at managing anger. She runs a superhuman law division. Establishes that Banner has a son, Skaar, on Sakaar; that Abomination is on supervised release; and features Daredevil in the yellow suit.
The finale is a public trial. Matt reveals himself as Daredevil on live broadcast to testify about the Northern Star. Karen is freed. Fisk barricades the courthouse; the city rises; protestors in Daredevil masks storm the building and overpower him. Fisk is forced out of office. Matt is arrested for vigilantism.
