What actually happens
Feige has publicly referred to what follows as "the Mutant Saga" — Phases 7, 8, and 9, built around the X-Men, with an X-Men reboot in development. He has said Marvel has ideas mapped through 2042, and has hinted at recognisable X-Men appearing in films before Secret Wars.
Widely reported but unconfirmed for Phase 7: Black Panther 3, Blade, and an X-Men film.
Some reporting suggests Secret Wars may reboot the timeline outright.
Kang is finished. Jonathan Majors was fired by Disney in December 2023 following a criminal conviction. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty was cancelled and Doctor Doom replaced him as the saga's antagonist. He has not been recast and there is no announced plan to.
The Council of Kangs, Victor Timely, and He Who Remains's warnings about his variants are all dead ends — the orphaned threads flagged at the top of this document.
A Kang variant could turn up as background colour in Secret Wars given its multiversal scope, but nothing supports this beyond the door not being formally shut.
